Shut down crisis pregnancy centers
What is a crisis pregnancy center?
A place that misleads...
Crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) often advertise themselves as full-service women’s health clinics. In reality, they are usually run by anti-abortion organizations that do not offer the care they claim. Their goal is to confuse people seeking abortion services and redirect them away from real medical providers.
A place that manipulates...
Crisis pregnancy centers often use scare tactics and emotional pressure to influence your decisions. Some may present false medical claims or suggest harmful consequences of abortion. They aim to push personal beliefs, not provide unbiased support.
We, the undersigned, urgently call upon the Florida Legislature and Governor Ron DeSantis, as well as the Florida Department of Health, to end all public funding for crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs). These centers are unregulated, deceptive facilities that undermine public health, erode civil liberties, and endanger lives.
Why Florida Must Act Now
1. CPCs deliberately delay access to legitimate healthcare.
Florida currently enforces a six-week abortion ban. Under this restrictive law, time is critical. CPCs often mislead patients by using delay tactics (requiring multiple unnecessary ultrasounds, offering misleading information about gestational age, or scheduling appointments far in the future) to push individuals past the legal window for abortion access.
2. CPCs distribute medically inaccurate information.
There is extensive documentation that CPCs provide false or misleading claims. These include assertions that abortion causes infertility, breast cancer, or mental illness. Some centers promote unproven and potentially harmful “abortion reversal” procedures or misrepresent gestational age in order to manipulate patient decisions.
3. CPCs compromise patient privacy.
Because most CPCs are not licensed medical facilities, they are not bound by laws that protect patient data. In a state where abortion is criminalized, the absence of privacy protections puts individuals at serious risk.
Add Your Name to the Petition
We, the undersigned, demand the state to:
Stop allocating state funds, entirely, to crisis pregnancy centers in Florida.
Redirect the $30 million in taxpayer money toward programs that actually help Floridians: real healthcare, mental health services, housing assistance, education, and community safety.
A place that delays...
These centers may offer pregnancy tests or ultrasounds but use them to delay your access to legitimate reproductive care. Staff may schedule unnecessary follow-ups or avoid giving clear answers about your options. The longer the delay, the fewer legal options you may have.
A place with no medical care…
Most CPCs are not licensed medical facilities and are not staffed by doctors. They may have volunteers or staff wearing white coats, but that does not mean they are qualified to provide medical advice. People seeking care deserve accurate information.
A place funded by your tax dollars...
Despite offering little to no real healthcare, crisis pregnancy centers in Florida receive significant public funding each year. In 2025, state lawmakers allocated nearly $30 million to anti-abortion organizations operating CPCs through the Florida Pregnancy Care Network.
